Miss C’s Sensual Session
“I never really liked my body. I was a skinny kid with bad teeth and hair. I was ugly, I wore the wrong clothes, and didn’t know how to wear makeup. Over the years, I’ve become more accepting of my body. I learned how to dress to make myself happy, and how to work with my hair, instead of against it.
I’m still not comfortable in my skin, of thinking of myself as beautiful, or liking how I look in photographs. Brooke made me feel comfortable and beautiful. The process started with Brooke showing me her portfolio and asked me to identify photos and poses that I liked. She used these as a starting point to suggest poses and clothing ideas for me. Brooke did everything possible to make me feel comfortable, from providing refreshments to creating a playlist of my favorite songs. She encouraged me to bring clothes that made me feel good. When I brought my wool cloak, she used that to create beautiful art.
Brooke made sure to ask me what kinds of poses I wanted to do, and she constantly checked to be sure I was physically and emotionally comfortable with the shoot. When it was time to view the proofs, I was excited to see how I looked. I was eager to see how Brooke was able to use her photography skills and body knowledge to elevate my body. I was blown away with her skill and her eye. She was able to capture my smile, my curves, and I recognized myself in every photo (which was something I was afraid of; that I wouldn’t see myself). But I was so happy, so pleased, to see how I looked.
I was beautiful in those photos. I was happy. I was powerful and sensual. I’m so, so glad that I got this photo shoot. I love how I look through Brooke’s eyes. I love seeing how I can look to others, and this is giving me a very positive way of looking at myself. Instead of seeing my flaws, I’m seeing my power.”
Seeing your power is one of the many benefits of boudoir.
